Monday of the Twenty-first Week in Ordinary Time

Hypocrisy has always been considered one of the least admirable traits one could possess.  Saying one thing and doing another is simply dishonest, usually embellished with some sort of publicity, which makes it worse. There has been a welcome resurgence among many bishops to make sure that Catholic institutions are true to their calling. Vague phraseology and general statements are simply “hypocrisy lite” and need to be avoided at all costs. Just as Jesus challenged leaders of religious institutions to fundamental honesty, the church continues the work of Christ in its challenge to religious institutions, particularly those charged with the ministry of education and health care,  to live the values they profess.
