Wednesday of the Third Week of Easter
Jesuit Churches: Feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Society of Jesus
In the Gospel of today’s Mass, Jesus continues his discourse about bread and life. Up until now he has stressed that each person should believe in him. Why? Because “everyone who sees the Son and believes in him, may have eternal life.”
It was the Father who sent him to declare this, to assert who he is, namely, the Bread of Life that satisfies our hunger, quenches our thirst. Prayer fixes our vision to see this truth, to see who he is, to understand what he teaches, to hunger and thirst for him, to know him better and progress in faith in who he is and in what he teaches.
He assures us that all can go to him in total confidence. He will never neglect us. He will always be there for us because again, “I have come down from heaven not to do my own will, but the will of the Father who sent me.”
Resolve: In a spirit of thanksgiving for the faith in his Son the Father has given me, I shall pray today that that same faith be embraced by the many people throughout the world who live in hunger and thirst for the unknown Bread of Life.
