Pentecost Sunday

Today, we are living in a Tower of Babel situation. The world that we live in today has become intellectually corrupt beyond belief, and people have tried to build a new Tower of Babel to replace God. The fact of the matter is that we have spoken different languages when people try to redefine the meaning of 'man' and 'woman.' Since we cannot agree on the definition of a man and a woman any longer, we are not merely confused with language, but we are living under absolute intolerable chaos, like in the Tower of Babel.

Luke wrote in the Act of Apostles that on the day of Pentecost, people gathered in a large crowd, but they were confused because each one heard them speaking in his own language. While they are confused, they are not repeating the Tower of Babel, but rather, it is a reversion to the Tower of Babel, where they are speaking the same language of truth infused by the Holy Spirit. In his Letter to the Corinthians, St. Paul wrote, "No one can say, 'Jesus is Lord,' except by the Holy Spirit." Basically, Paul reminded them that they were cultivating idols as they were led without resistance to worship idols. Here, Paul especially mentioned the sin of idolatry because people cannot free themselves from mortal sin without grace because the remission of sins is brought only by grace. When people resist the Holy Spirit, they will run after sin rapidly. But with the Holy Spirit, people can say Jesus is the Lord.

When we live in a world that is currently building a new Tower of Babel, we must always speak the truth. We must always speak about sins when the world does not want to speak about sin anymore. In the new Tower of Babel, people believe that the root of the world's problems is merely social, which can be solved by sociology, psychology, or the social sciences in general. But as St. Paul said to the Corinthians, no one can perform good work without grace. Therefore, any effort to solve the world's problems through social programs has zero chance of success unless we acknowledge that the root of the problems lies in sin against God's commandments.
