Friday of the Thirty-fourth Week in Ordinary Time
Seasons come and go. For us in the northern hemisphere, we are well into fall, and trees retain few if any leaves. The change in seasons is gradual but apparent. The same may be true in our lives. It is incredible what a few days, a few weeks, a few months can do for us. We’ll often find that the worries and preoccupations that filled our hearts at one moment have gradually changed or fallen away like leaves from a tree. Perhaps others persist.
Soon, winter will be upon us, and we know that in spite of its bleakness, winter can also bring the space and the stillness for new life. There is hope yet. Our one constant is God and his irrevocable Word of love. “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.”
