Saturday of the Fourth Week of Easter
Today Jesus says, “Whoever has seen me has seen the Father,” and then “Whoever believes in me will do the works that I do, and will do greater ones than these.”
As the transitional deacon that I am, I have the privilege of seeing face to face the faith of the people of God. Perhaps one of the most moving instances was this Good Friday during the adoration of the Cross. Elderly people struggling yet determined to genuflect, small children reverently imitating their parents, a lady who kissed the Cross and then said, “Thank you, Jesus, for saving me.” What more can be said?
Belief in Christ is very much alive. God’s face can be seen without too much effort, if we’re willing to seek it. And works, great works can be done in his name.
