Tuesday of the Fourth Week in Ordinary Time

Fear. It’s a part of every life. And Jesus, who came to share with us the fullness of life, encounters frightened people all the time.

The woman with hemorrhages has faith that Jesus can cure her, and she approaches him with fear and trembling when he asks who touched him. Jesus comforts Jairus who believes his daughter has already died by saying, "Do not be afraid; just have faith."

We can ask ourselves, what is the relationship between our faith and our fears? Do fears lead us to greater faith or do they stifle our belief? Does our faith lead us to do things that we believe and yet fear?

We may reach the conclusion that our faith is not perfect. So often it coexists with our fears. Let us ask for the grace of a greater faith that lets us be drawn from fear to love.
