Feast of the Presentation of the Lord
It is not knowledge that will save us, but trust. Simeon trusted what had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit, that he would live to see the Christ of the Lord. And seeing him was enough to know that he had seen salvation.
Simeon may not have lived to see Christ preaching, teaching, and healing. He may not have been alive to witness the ultimate act of love on the Cross. He may not have known everything that was to come with this child. But he trusted. And that was enough.
In the face of so much uncertainty, so much we don’t know, our trust in God may be faint like the whisper of the Spirit or tiny like a child, but embracing it will let us see salvation.
