Introductory Prayer

Father, you created me and put me on earth for a purpose. Jesus, you died for me and call me to complete your work. Holy Spirit, you help me to carry out the work for which I was created and called. In your presence and name—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—I begin my reflection. May all my thoughts and inspirations have their origin in you and be directed to your glory.

Saturday of the First Week of Advent

During this season of advent we may consider of no better companion on our journey towards the manger than Mary. Medieval theologians noted how Mary was present and acted as a guide to the most vulnerable moments in the life of Christ. She knelt next to the wood of the crib and she stood near the wood of the cross. Mary’s yes to God brought Christ into the world and Christians ever since have desired to imitate that single hearted yes to the love of the Heart of Christ.
