Wednesday of the Third Week of Easter

Jesus’ teaching in today’s Gospel invites me to reflect more about the bread of life.  Yesterday he clearly asserted that “I am the bread of life.” Today he expands that teaching. He tells me that the one who eats his flesh and drinks his blood will not hunger or thirst again, and that the Father’s will is everyone who “sees the Son and believes in him will have eternal life” and “shall raise him up on the last day.”

How do I go about “seeing the Son?” Prayer and centering my life on the Eucharist. Prayer is fixing my eyes, my attention on Jesus in order to know him better and to strengthen my faith in him. He is always there to encourage me to have more confidence in him so that I may hear him tell me what the Father’s will is for me and how I can put it into practice.

The Eucharist is truly the body and blood of Christ. I should receive it as often as I can, make visits to the Blessed Sacrament, when and if possible, and say short prayers often to the eucharistic Christ for those who seek the  meaning of their lives.

Resolve: I shall ask the Holy Spirit to give me and all those for from whom I pray an abundance of grace so that we can see Christ more present in our lives and follow him more closely.
