Memorial of Saint Boniface, Bishop and Martyr
Today we remember St. Boniface, the martyr and missionary to the Germanic peoples. St. Boniface knew that the Gospel is Good News worth sharing, so Good that it’s worth leaving our homes for and giving up our very lives to share. Through this tireless witness, St. Boniface followed Christ’s command to “go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation” (Mark 16:15).
But this command extends to all of Christ’s faithful. Of course, we’re not all called to leave behind everything to preach in unfamiliar lands, but we are all called to share the Good News of the Gospel through the witness of our lives. In big ways or small ways, our daily actions should communicate to others the love and salvation of Christ. Today, let’s pray for the grace to share Christ’s Good News through our words and actions each day. St. Boniface, pray for us.
