Introductory Prayer

Father, you created me and put me on earth for a purpose. Jesus, you died for me and call me to complete your work. Holy Spirit, you help me to carry out the work for which I was created and called. In your presence and name—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—I begin my reflection. May all my thoughts and inspirations have their origin in you and be directed to your glory.

Memorial of Saint Jerome, Priest and Doctor of the Church

Whatever became of the child that Jesus took into his arms to teach his disciples a lesson about greatness? Was it a memory she held on to? Did she remember the sounds, the smells, the sights of being embraced by Love? Or the surprised faces of those adults who learned something new or remembered something sweet?

Hopefully she grew up knowing that the greatest thing is to be held by Love. Hopefully she grew remembering that anyone who receives her receives Love. Hopefully, she generously gave of herself and sought out the little ones. And hopefully, the child within us can remember that all this is true for us as well.
