The Resurrection of the Lord
The Mass of Easter Day

Happy Easter!  Death is not the final word!  Goodness wins out in the end!  Jesus of Nazareth, a good man, allowed himself to be beaten by evil men, but only so that he could re-emerge triumphant and unstoppable.  Yes, death itself is evil.  Death itself is wrong. It is wrong to separate the human soul from the human body.  It’s extremely harmful.  It’s unnatural.  The human soul and body, by nature, are meant to stay united.  Christ’s human soul and human body, likewise, were designed to stay together.  Nevertheless, they were sadly and painfully separated, but only so that they could be re-united on the third day.  Alleluia!
The disciples mourned for Jesus when he died, but soon they rejoiced when he appeared to them.  We, Christian disciples today, mourn our friends when they die, but we have hope that we will rejoice when we see them again in the next life.  Many are still mourning the Columbine High School massacre, which occurred on this date in 1999, but even those mourners can have a happy Easter, because Death is not the final word.
Christian hope remains untarnished.  Let us strengthen that hope.  Let us strengthen our faith in the resurrected Christ.  Let us ring out our joy to God, our Savior!  Alleluia!
