Friday of the Second Week of Easter
Knowing that they were going to make him king for the wonders he worked, Jesus “withdrew again to the mountain alone.”
He gave the people food, something that they needed, and they responded by wanting to give him a kingdom, something he did not want . . . at least not in those terms.
What kind of kingdom might he want from us?
St. Paul offers us an answer when he describes the Kingdom of God as justice, peace, and joy (Rom 14:17). All of these are fruits of the Holy Spirit, but we can do our part to cooperate with God’s grace to make them present in our hearts and in our world.
