Introductory Prayer

Father, you created me and put me on earth for a purpose. Jesus, you died for me and call me to complete your work. Holy Spirit, you help me to carry out the work for which I was created and called. In your presence and name—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—I begin my reflection. May all my thoughts and inspirations have their origin in you and be directed to your glory.

Feast of Saint Matthias, Apostle

“Remain in my love.”  Jesus’ words and the longings of our own heart seem to tell us that love is a place to stay, a place to find rest, comfort, shelter, security. And yet, at the same time, Jesus tells us, “Love one another.” There is, in love, an element of action, transmission. As the Father loves Jesus, so he has loved us, and asks us to share that very same love.

Love is all at once a resting place and a springboard towards action. The more of it we share, the greater the space in which we will be able to remain in his love.
