Memorial of Saints Cyril, Monk, and Methodius, Bishop

Today’s Gospel invites me to focus on the personality of Jesus. What is so striking is that he was sensitive to those who were suffering. Then, he shared his feelings with others, the apostles, so that they could partake with his empathy. He then sent his apostles out to relieve those who were suffering and finally, he provided the means for them to heal their sufferings.

In this instance, his apostles asked Jesus where they could find enough bread to satisfy the hungry. No spectacular miracle. He encouraged them to share what they had. Today Jesus has a resurrected body, but his personality remains the same. He still has pity on those who suffer and shares his feelings for them with those close to him, giving them the means to relieve physical, mental or spiritual pain.

Today the priest confects Christ’s body at mass and gives it to his followers, who by prayers, knowledge, alms, skills, dedication, talents, or whatever they have been given, share with those who suffer.

Resolve: Two intentions today: that the Lord will give us all the grace to see and be more dedicated to relieve those who suffer and, on this feast of Sts. Cyril and Methodius, for unity of the Catholic and Orthodox Churches of the East.
