Introductory Prayer

Father, you created me and put me on earth for a purpose. Jesus, you died for me and call me to complete your work. Holy Spirit, you help me to carry out the work for which I was created and called. In your presence and name—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—I begin my reflection. May all my thoughts and inspirations have their origin in you and be directed to your glory.

Wednesday of the Fourth Week of Lent

In today’s Gospel, Jesus outlines God’s work on earth. In summary, it is the salvation of mankind, as a group, as individuals. Out of love, the Father created each person and sent his Son, Jesus, to save him, to redeem him from sin. In unity with the Spirit, God, Father and Son, does not cease preform this activity.

Lent is a special time to reflect on this mystery.

I will reflect on these readings describing God’s work in the light of Psalm 45:

“Yahweh supports all who stumble, lifts those up who are bowed down…Yahweh is close to all who call upon him, all who call upon him from the heart.”
