Monday of the Fourth Week of Easter

“I am the gate. Whoever enters through me will be saved, and will come in and go out and find pasture.” With these words, Jesus describes himself as the gateway to salvation, protection, freedom, rest and nourishment. It is he who grants us access to it. Through him, we, his flock, have life in abundance.

Yet it is not only through Christ that we live, but also with him and in him, as we are reminded in the Eucharistic prayer. Jesus is not only an access point, but also a faithful companion that calls us to intimate union. With him we live. In him we live.

Today, we can reflect on all those people who have been for us a source of protection, freedom, rest and nourishment. We know that a little, the smallest gesture, can go a long way.

And so we can ask ourselves, in turn, how we too can help others today experience salvation and life abundant.
