Tuesday of the Fifth Week of Lent

In today’s first reading we hear of the people of Israel who recently escaped from Egypt and are now moving through the desert. The trip has taken its toll, and complaints are arising from the camp about the miraculous food that appeared every morning. We are disgusted with this wretched food is the complaint that has come down to us from in the scriptures. Living in a residence hall, I hear this complaint that usually surfaces at the end of the year. Frustrations about the demands of school usually are taken out on the quality of the pork chops. Lent may be a time to realize that although we can always imagine what is better, we may want to consider what we has often is more than enough and actually is not as bad as it may seem.
