As we listen to the teachings of Our Lord, about how we are to live in this world, about how we are to love and forgive, about His promises of eternal life, the Sower is planting within our hearts the seeds of faith. We are called to take time to remember and reverence His words (rather than let forgetfulness snatch them away). We are called to let these teachings and promises take root in our hearts, to live from the words of Christ and not according to passing influences or temptations. Though we live in this world for the time being, we are not to allow this world’s worries or pleasures distract us from the life and mercy to which Christ calls us. Let us ask the One who has spoken these words to us to stay with us, to continue repeating His promises of eternal life to our hearts, so that we may live as those who truly look forward to the resurrection He wishes to share with each of us.
