Saturday of the Second Week of Easter

Today we hear John’s account of Jesus walking on water. Upon seeing the Lord, the disciples “wanted to take him into the boat, but the boat immediately arrived at the shore to which they were heading.” Their efforts to have Jesus close to them in spite of their fear and the violent winds gets them to safety, to their destiny.

Jesus is our destiny. In this life, there will be moments in which we are filled with fear, moments in which we are being battered by the raging sea. Let us never lose the courage to work towards bringing Jesus close to us. There will also be moments in which we will find Jesus in our neighbor caught in a storm outside the boat. May our efforts to bring him to safety bring us both to our destiny.
