Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross

“May the shelter I seek be the shadow of your cross. Let me not run from the love which you offer,” writes Jesuit, David Fleming. On this feast of the Exaltation of the Cross, we Christians focus not on an instrument of shame, torture and death, but the place in which our Savior showed us love to the end.

On this side of the Resurrection, can we ever get rid of the darkness, pain, and death that surrounds our world, our communities, our very hearts? The Cross stands as a reminder that even in that darkness, there is love waiting to be offered.
