Tuesday of the Second Week of Advent

The Lord called the prophet Isaiah to tell His People of the love that He has for them. God urges the prophet to cry out! To shout from the heights of the holy mount, so that all may hear of God who comes powerfully, and yet as a gentle, caring shepherd. God urges the prophet to comfort His People, to assure them in their doubts, in their troubles and afflictions, that God is coming to them, that God is carrying them and will lead them with care.

Then in the Gospel we hear our Good Shepherd Himself assure us that our heavenly Father rejoices when He finds us. Jesus, the Eternal Son who knows the heart of the Eternal Father better than anyone else, tells us that it brings joy to God’s heart to find us. As we prepare for Christmas, let us consider what God spoke through through the prophets, let us imagine with the images that Our Incarnate Lord gives us: let us picture God who is looking for us, who comes that we may be found, that He may offer to our hearts the comfort that the world cannot give, but only the Creator of all.
