Listening to him speak at the synagogue, the people in Jesus’ hometown take offense at him. It’s as if they said, “Who does he think he is? We know him. He’s nothing special.”
The idea that nothing good can come from Nazareth (see John 1:46) was sadly believed by many of its native people. And we too can fall into this mindset. Nothing good can come from me. Nothing good from people like me. And if anyone by their life dares to challenge this, I will bring them down with my thoughts, with my words.
Jesus came to his own. He comes to us to show us where we really come from, love.
May our whole life be spent appropriating this truth. With him, we will see and do great things.
